Wave That Pick: AAC Picks for Week 5

JP Picks Some Games

By JP Gooderham

We are back this week with "Wave That Pick," and there are three AAC games that look interesting to me this week. But first:

How are we doing?

In our second week of picks, we went 2-1 (dang it, UConn) to move to 4-3 on the year.

Winners: Tulane -3 vs. Army, UCF -6.5 at Maryland.
Losers: UConn -4.5 vs. East Carolina

2017 RECORD: 4-3 (57%)

Picks for Week 5

1. USF @ East Carolina +21 | PICK: USF

I've seen enough of both of these teams to feel pretty good about this one. ECU can't play defense, and South Florida -- who predictably will start slow -- will put up big points when they get rolling. USF will cover.

2. UConn @ SMU -17 | PICK: SMU

UConn has been better at actually scoring points this year, but their defense could not be better equipped to give up big points to a team like SMU. I'm taking SMU here.

3. Houston @ Temple +13 | PICK: HOUSTON

Temple's offense could not look more inept this year. Their defense is capable of keeping this close for a little while, but Houston should break through with their new quarterback.

4. Navy @ Tulsa -8.5 | PICK: NAVY

The Golden Hurricane's offense has slowed down quite a bit, and that is a bad spot to be in when facing a Navy team that will successfully control the clock as much as they want. I've got Navy.
